Hungary
The tournament's dark horses?
After winning a group which included Portugal,
Ukraine and Sweden in the elite round, the Hungarians will travel to Luxembourg with big ambitions.
Although the nation is not known as world-beaters in the international game, they are seen as strong force in youth
football.
Hungary's under-17s will be playing in their third tournament in five years which, in a tournament that is notriously
difficult to qualify for, is impressive.
In fact, their qualifying success this year was only second to that of the prolific Germans and Jozsef Both's side
will be full of conidence before their first match against Russia.
They will have the tournament's joint top-scorer in Kristian Nemeth in their ranks and the 9 goal hot-shot will
be hoping to add to his tally.
The MTK Hungaria FC striker has already made his debut in Hungary's top flight and will pose one of the biggest
threats in front of goal in Group A.
His hat-trick in the elite round 4-0 victory over Ukraine made the front pages of the Hungarian newspapers and
there is no doubt that if he is on form, he could this time be making headlines accross the continent.
Nemeth will be hoping his team-mate Vladimir Koman can produce some of the magic that made him stand out in qualifying.
The central midfielder is seen as the team's brain in attack and is likely to be the creator of many chances for
the Hungarians. |
