England squad announced
Peacock names 18 for Elite
Qualifying
England Under-17 coach John Peacock has named
his squad for the elite qualifying round.
England face Italy, Russia and Bulgaria between March 28 and April 1 to decide which team will join seven others
in Luxembourg for the finals.
One notable absentee was from the 18-strong squad was Arsenal new boy Theo Walcott.
The £12 million hot-shot was a star in last year's under-17 campaign but it seems that he will take no part
this season leaving the door open for fresh talent.
In Walcott's absence, Sunderland's Jamie Chandler and Spurs goalkeeper David Button become the the squad's most
experience players.
England's most notable threat up front will be Manchester City's Daniel Sturridge who has bagged five goals in
his six caps for the under-17s.
