(Note: Only one team from each of the seven groups can join Luxembourg in qualifying for the finals)

Day Eleven - 02/04 - Group Five

The line up for the UEFA European Under 17 Championships 2006 is now complete with the
Czech Republic becoming the eighth team to qualify. The Czechs won their final match 2-0 against Denmark with Tomas Necid scoring his second goal in as many games. Petr Wojnar set them on their way with his 27th minute strike before Necid struck on eighth minutes after the break. With France only able to produce a 1-1 draw against Turkey, the team who had been in third place before kick off secured qualification. France went out of the competition without losing a game as their 3-1 win against the Czechs and two consecutive draws wasn't enough.

Meanwhile,
Italy finished second on five points in group seven as they overcame Bulgaria 3-0 at Stocksbridge FC.

Day Nine - 31/03 - Group Six

Serbia and Montenegro dashed the hopes of hosts the Republic of Ireland after a 3-0 victory left them top of group six. Two goals from Chelsea target Stevan Jovetic and a single effort from Velijko Vukovic guaranteed the Serb's qualification.
Elsewhere,
Romania recorded their first win of the Elite Round with a 3-1 victory over qualification candidates Israel.

Day Nine - 31/03 - Group Three

Turkey's reign as UEFA Under 17 champions is over as they failed to win either of their first two matches in Group three. A goal three minutes from time by the Czech Republic's Thomas Necid making it impossible for the Turks to qualify for the finals whatever the result in Sundays final matches.
France and Denmark are level on four points at the top of the group after a 0-0 draw. The Czech Republic are in third place with three points.

Day Eight - 30/03 - Group Two

Hungary, the surprise package of the Elite qualifying round, recorded their second consecutive 4-0 victory to qualify for the finals in May. Sweden were on the wrong end of the thrashing which included a hat-trick for Krisztian Nemeth, taking his personal tally to four in three matches. Hungary scored an impressive nine goals in the Elite round and conceded just one.
2003 champions
Portugal came second in the group after a 2-2 draw with Ukraine.

Day Eight - 30/03 - Group Four

Belgium will make the short trip across the border for the U17 finals in Luxembourg after a comprehensive 4-0 victory over Slovakia. The red devils topped the group after two wins and a draw. Switzerland, who had won the tournament in 2002, failed to set the group alight and finished in third after a 1-0 loss against group hosts Poland.

Earlier in the day
Russia's match against Italy was hastily rearranged to the Don Valley Stadium in Sheffield after the South Leeds Stadium pitch was deemed unplayable. The game was a tight affair ending in a 0-0 draw with both teams cancelling each other out. Each side had plenty of chances but it was Italy who will be the most disappointed of the two after missing two opportunities from inside the six-yard box. Chelsea head of youth development and coaching Frank Arnesen was at the game to see some of Europe's finest young talents in action.


Day Seven - 29/03 - Group Six

The winners of the opening matches in group six,
Israel and Republic of Ireland, shared a 1-1 draw in Dublin. The result leaves both teams level on four points at the top of the group with the Republic of Ireland leading on goal difference.
In the group's late kick off Nikola Gulan was on target as
Serbia and Montenegro beat Romania 1-0 to give themselves a fighting chance of qualifying for the finals.
The deciding fixtures will be played on Saturday with Israel taking on Romania and Serbia and Montenegro playing the group hosts, the Republic of Ireland.

Day Seven - 29/03 - Group Three

Group three, the elite qualifying round's so called 'group of death' got off to flyer today. The early kick-off saw
France beat Czech Republic 3-1 in Antalya. Both teams had a bye into the round but it was the Czech republic who started the better, Lukas Vacha scoring after four minutes. With 24 minutes remaining PSG's David N'Gog levelled the match before Adel Taarabt and Dominique Malonga sealed an important victory.
Group hosts and last year's champions
Turkey suffered a shock 0-1 defeat to Denmark in the group's second game of the day. Turkey had finished fourth in the Fifa U17 World Championships 2005 in Peru with Borussia Dortmund star Nuri Sahin going on to become the Bundesliga's youngest ever goalscorer.

Elsewhere,
Russia thrashed Bulgaria 5-0 at Worksop FC, setting the precedent for a group that is likely to be decided on goal difference.

Day Six - 28/03 - Group One

Germany became the third team to qualify for the finals after a 4-0 drubbing of Finland, Manuel Fischer scoring a hat-trick.
Netherlands, last year's runners up and the third placed team at Fifa U17 World Championships 2005 will not feature in the finals. Ruud Kaiser's side overcame Northern Ireland 3-1 but went out on goal difference.

Day Six - 28/03 - Group Two

In the first round of matches in group two, hosts
Portugal beat Sweden 2-1 whilst Hungary thrashed Ukraine 4-0.

Day Six - 28/03 - Group Four

Poland defeated Slovakia 4-1 to leave the group four wide open. Any of the top three teams can still qualify going into the final found of games.
Earlier in the day,
Switzerland and Belgium became joint leaders of the group after a 3-3 draw. Fabian Frei scored his second and third of the round after Cor Gillis gave Belgium the lead after 26 minutes. Dieter Wittesaele levelled the game at 2-2 before Nicolas Lambert scored for the Swiss on 74' only for Jelle Vossen to equalise four minutes later. Both teams are now level on four points with one game remaining.

Day Five - 27/03 - Group Six

Republic of Ireland are the early leaders of the group after triumphing 4-0 over Romania in their opening match of the elite qualifying round. After a cagey first half the teams went in level at the break but Chris Fagen's 60th minute strike opened the floodgates. Fagen doubled the lead before Graham Carey and Donal McDermott sealed the rout.
Earlier in the day,
Israel began their under 17s campaign with a 2-1 win over Serbia and Montenegro. A last minute penalty giving the Israelis a narrow but precious win.

Day Five - 27/03 - Group Five

Spain have become the first nation to join hosts Luxembourg in the finals with a solid 3-0 win over Moldova. A hat-trick in the first 38 minutes by Valencia striker Aaron Niguez Esclapez was enough to send them through. Juan Santisteban Troyano's team topped their group with seven points from three games.
Wales finished runners up in the mini-league after a 2-0 victory against group hosts Cyprus.

Day Four - 26/03 - Group One

Sunday was a busy day of action with the stand out tie between giants
Germany and Netherlands ending in a disappointing 1-1 draw. Fresh from appearing for the Ajax first team in the Dutch Cup semi-final, Vurnon Anita was the star attraction for the host nation. Olivier Ter Horst put the Oranje ahead before Marko Marin scored his second goal in two games.
In the other group one game
Northern Ireland beat Finland 3-2 to give themselves a slim chance of qualification.

Day Four - 26/03 - Group Two

2003 champions
Portugal drew their fist match of the round 1-1 with Hungary. Tiago Cintra's 34th minute effort was cancelled out just two minutes later by Adám Dudás's free kick.
Sweden and Ukraine also shared the spoils in a 1-1 to leave group two level with each team on one point.

Day Four - 26/03 - Group Four

Switzerland, who triumphed in 2002, began their campaign with a 3-0 drubbing of Slovakia. Three first half goals from Fabian Frei, Gianluca Frontino and Valentin Stocker were enough to seal victory.
Meanwhile,
Belgium beat group hosts Poland 2-0 in Krosno Odrzanskie.

Day Three - 25/03 - Group Five

In the second round of group five matches
Spain hit back from their draw with hosts Cyprus to beat Wales 2-0. Cyprus kept themselves in line for an unlikely qualification by beating Moldova by the same margin, 2-0.

Day Two - 24/03 - Group One

Germany hammered Northern Ireland 4-0 in their first group match of the round. A first half goal from Manuel Fischer followed by three second half strikes by Toni Kroos, Marko Marin and Lars Bender sealed victory.
Meanwhile, Germany's group rivals, The
Netherlands, overcame stiff competition against Finland. Ferdi Sönmez giving Ruud Kasier's team a slender 1-0 victory.

Day One - 23/03 - Group Five

Cyprus claimed a shock 1-1 draw against 2001 winners Spain, with both goals coming inside a three-minute period in the first half. Ignacio Camacho put the Spaniards 1-0 up on 17 minutes before Michail Konstantinidis equalised.
Wales also suffered heartache as two second half penalties saw them draw 3-3 with Moldova in Larnaca.
